The shortest of the perfection of wisdom sutras, the Heart Sutra is arguably the most highly revered text in the Mahayana canon. It contains the eternally enigmatic gem:
Form is emptiness.
Emptiness is form.
Emptiness is not other than form.
Form is not other than emptiness. This course will explore the Heart Sutra from different perspectives, the historical context and its place in Buddhist scripture, the content of the Heart Sutra, viewing it as a description of a moment of presence, and how to live this teaching in one's life.
